چکیده
In the paper entitled " Skeletal muscle mass indices in healthy young Mexican adults aged 20–40 years: implications for diagnoses of sarcopenia in the elderly population " there was a wrong citation in Table 3. First, the correct last name is Masanes et al., 2012 [13]. Second, we want to correct in our published work the sex-specific cutoff points reported by Wen et al. The correct values are 5.85 and 4.23 for men and women, respectively, in the case of cutoff points published by Wen et al., 2011, and 5.14 for women, in the case of Kim et al., 2009. Finally, we want to clarify that these small changes do not affect the results of the statistical analysis reported in our published work.

Skeletal Muscle Mass Indices in Healthy Young Mexican Adults Aged 20–40 Years: Implications for Diagnoses of Sarcopenia in the Elderly Population
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Skeletal muscle and skeletal muscle indices in young adults from developing countries are sparse. Indices and the corresponding cut-off points can be a reference for diagnoses of sarcopenia. This study assessed skeletal muscle using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in healthy male and female subjects aged 20-40 years and compared their appendicular skeletal muscl...
متن کاملDifferences among skeletal muscle mass indices derived from height-, weight-, and body mass index-adjusted models in assessing sarcopenia
Aging processes are inevitably accompanied by structural and functional changes in vital organs. Skeletal muscle, which accounts for 40% of total body weight, deteriorates quantitatively and qualitatively with aging. Skeletal muscle is known to play diverse crucial physical and metabolic roles in humans. Sarcopenia is a condition characterized by significant loss of muscle mass and strength. It...
متن کاملPrevalence of sarcopenia and predictors of skeletal muscle mass in healthy, older men and women.
BACKGROUND Sarcopenia refers to the loss of skeletal muscle mass with age. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia in a population of older, community-dwelling research volunteers. METHODS Appendicular skeletal muscle mass was measured by dual x-ray absorptiometry in 195 women aged 64 to 93 years and 142 men aged 64 to 92 years. We defined sarcopenia as appen...
متن کاملResistance Training May Improve Rectus Femoris Muscle Parameters in Elderly Women
Background: One of the important issues in aging is sarcopenia characterized by muscle mass and function reduction. The present study investigated the effect of high intensity interval resistance training (HIIRT) on muscular parameters in sarcopenic elderly women. Methods: A total of 30 sarcopenic women aged 60 to 70 years (appendicular skeletal muscle mass index<6.76 kg/m2, hand grip<20 kg) w...
متن کاملSarcopenia and planning to management: review article
Life expectancy has increased throughout the world and, as a result, the population of the elderly is also rising. From the age of 30 years old, the human body mass loses about 0.1 to 0.5% of its skeletal muscle mass annually, which is accelerated after the age of 65 years old. Aging is characterized by a decrease in the progression of musculoskeletal and physical activity known as sarcopenia. ...
